Stop and Look

Today’s mindfulness exercise is all about taking a moment to really see what is around you.

Focus on one thing (it could be in front of you or in your mind). Just pick, one object. Then really look at it.  If you can, pick it up, hold it, and really look at all the details. Think about what you like about the object. Why did you pick it (what made it stand out)? How did it come to be? What is it made of? What was involved in its creation?  How did it end up in your possession? How does it work? How do you use it? Can you use it better? Think about all those questions and possible answers for 2-3 minutes and then go back to what you were doing (or not).

The point is to just take a moment to appreciate, reflect, and ultimately focus your thoughts.
