Advent Calendar DIY {Crafts}

Sunday, December 4, 2016

The countdown to Christmas has begun and this year I took my first pass at making an advent calendar for the house. I was pretty surprised with just how easy it was to make one. And now we are enjoying the surprise of doing a different activity everyday until Christmas!

Here is a short supply list of items you may want for this project...

  • Small envelopes
  • Holiday stamp and ink
  • Holiday wrapping paper
  • Foam or poster board
  • Glue dots or tape runner
  • Business card stock
  • Printable labels or stickers

Here is how I made it

First I started by making a list of 25 activities I enjoy doing around the Holidays.

Then, I printed each idea from my list on to business cards that would fit inside small envelopes. I also printed the numbers 1-25 on labels to represent each day before Christmas.

Next, I decorated 25 envelopes with stamps and stickers.

Then I wrapped foam board in coordinated wrapping paper to match my decorating theme.

 After placing an activity card in each envelope, I mounted them to my wrapped foam board with glue dots, added ribbon and then hung our new advent calendar in the living room!

This turned out to be a fun, creative Christmas project, which I didn’t have to spend any extra money on making since I used items already hanging around my house. The end result was a colorful advent calendar filled with activities that bring me joy!
