{DIY} Holiday Photo Cards

Saturday, December 6, 2014
Today’s craft project is all about getting our Christmas cards ready to go out!  All week I was working on ways to reduce cost for cards this year! I decided to do them myself instead of ordering like I normally do. Here is what I was able to do with $30, my camera, and some double-sided tape!

  • Photo Cards – I sat Baby A down early one morning in his pajamas, gave him some Christmas lights and pulled out my DSLR camera! I made edits in photo shop but you can also make collages or add overlays using PicMonkey.
  • Printing - I used Office Depot’s online photo card design options to add fonts. They printed my 5x7 cards and gave me the envelopes for about  $.72 per card. I love their same day printing feature, so quick and efficient.
  • Festive Card Liner – using Holiday paper (purchased for $6.25 with a gift card) I made liners for each envelope; then when I ran low I used lightweight wrapping paper which was easy and cute. Next year I can just use wrapping paper and save myself a trip to the craft store.
  • Printable Address Labels – using left over label paper, I found a font and image I liked then printed and used to address each envelope.

Just like that Christmas cards are finished and ready to be mailed! All in all for 30 cards with liners and envelopes, I should have spent $27.85, which comes to .92 cents per card. My actually expenses after using a gift card and coupons came to  $21.60!!!  Plus if I need more I can print on my own photo paper at no additional cost.  Happy Holidays to me!!!!

* You can print cards at Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Walgreens, Costco or at home for even less, I went with convenience and time and chose to have them printed at a store in close proximity to our house!
