Sad Ballerina circa the 1980s |
Board #7 {Ballet Nostalgia}
Thursday, May 9, 2013
I
was going through some old pictures and found one from my ballet recital. By no means would anybody
describe me as a “girlie girl” but I did go through a dance
phase in my early years. Being Amazonian tall, I
eventually realized my ballet dreams were not going to pan out. But those dreams have served as
the catalyst for today’s inspiration board.
“Ballet is a dance executed by the human soul.”
- Alexander
Pushkin

I
decided to share the picture that started it all. I enjoyed ballet but as
you can see by my tears, something is awry.
To answer your question – my sadness was a result of the fear that if I
had to smile for pre-recital pictures that I would not have enough smiles left
for the stage - I was 4 it made sense in my head. The teachers tried to force
me to smile in these pics which resulted in frustration, tears, and a much
needed hug from my parents! Happy
Throwback Thursday!
