So You’re Turning 30

Recently helped plan a 30th birthday party for a male client. 3.5 weeks isn’t an ideal time to plan but we made it happen!  Working on a short timeline, can be challenging but I'm in the business of details so the event was a success! 

Planning and coordinating for an event can include securing a venue, managing and sending invitations, creating party favors, designing menus, making floral centerpieces, and developing itineraries.

Here are some helpful hints when planning a 30th birthday party or any party:

1.       Solidify Your Guest List –know how many people you want to have and plan accordingly. This is important for catering and menu selection!
2.       Timing is Key – give yourself time to plan! Also be mindful of ongoing events. Holiday season minimizes venues and your guest list. Sporting events, concerts, and other occasions can impact your party so find out what is going on near your desired event date.
3.       Know Your Audience – when planning entertainment and food you want to have a feel for who you have invited and what they may want or like.
4.       Inspiration Boards Inspire Focus – think of the theme or style you want and pull together images that represent that so you can coordinate your decorations, invitation, food, and activities.
5.       Invitations Should Say it All – be sure to include important details including proper attire, venue address, parking instructions, and other need to know info in your invitation
6.       To-Do List vs Ta-Da list - no need for miracles when you know what needs to be done! Write down priority tasks so you can manage them effectively.
7.       Say Thank You with Party Favors – it is always a nice touch to share a personalized gift to help your guest commemorate the moment.

For this event we had over 100 invited guests, across two venues, so planning was crucial. The client was able to celebrate his birthday in style and I designed several personalized touches from party favors to centerpieces that made his event authentic!
