Girl Meets Event Blog

Sunday, January 1, 2012

Making the decision to start a blog (and business) is a bit like trust falling at summer camp! You never know if you're going to hit with a thud or fall into supportive arms! Regardless of the outcome this trust fall is underway!  After months of looking for creative fulfillment (and personal blogging),  “here I am, just a girl, standing in front of an event blog, asking it to love her!”

Cordier Event Planning is blossoming from the safety net of my mind, into the unknown blogosphere.  My many mottos through this process:

Walk by faith – believe in something greater than yourself. In my case, I believe that God has a plan for me and I have committed to walk this journey by faith and not sight.

Family First – My support system in all things is my family.  Without them nothing I do would really matter.  Cordier Event Planning takes my family name for a reason; my family is a gift and I’m honored to be apart of it! I’m also excited to offer a venue to showcase some of the many talents of my family members (cooking, crafting, and storytelling).

“You don't choose your family. They are God's gift to you, as you are to them.” - Desmond Tutu

Proper Planning and Preparation Prevents Piss Poor Performance – an old military adage that has helped me become the detail-oriented, type A, prepared girl scout meets MacGyver person I am today! I want to do my best at everything I do, for me that requires a bit of proper planning.

Editorial calendars are my friend – an element of "proper planning" that has been instrumental for my blog (and business) life is the editorial calendar.  It is just such an efficient way to manage content and will help me continue to maintain 2 blogs!

Sweat the small stuff in moderation – part of my job description as an event planner is sweating the small stuff so it is easy to always worry about details.  You have to have fun, relax, vacation, and maintain some perspective of the bigger picture so you know what details and outcomes are worth the extra sweat.  Vendor booking (sweat), negative bloggers (don’t sweat), invitation backorder (sweat), being too busy to blog (don’t sweat, in fact embrace and jump for joy).

Do and share what you love (and learn) – all I can do is be myself; do what I enjoy; and share what I know, learn, and love with anybody willing to listen. I am grateful to have the opportunity to pursue my dreams (in their many many forms). I take joy in helping people celebrate their life moments and look forward to sharing some moments of my own.

The process begins and building a brand, business, and blog should prove to challenging, rewarding, and purely chaotic.  All I can promise you is that I will chronicle my adventures and share the bliss…

Welcome to Eventful Bliss  (a blog full of endless possibilities)!

  5. yes the blog does take a large amount of work but it is a labor of love! my best tip is to plan (specifically using an editorial calendar) that way your content is organized in advance. Blogging has really become a fun new hobby but it can consume my time if i let it! Good luck!
